Elevating Innovation and Driving Tech-Based Economic Growth

In the last decade, our region has executed a shift toward a tech-based economy thanks to the efforts of RBIA, the alliance, and our partners. The past 5 years alone have seen tremendous growth as we enhance IP development, create a skilled workforce, and address barriers. This is, of course, just the beginning. Leading Collaboration Across the State

RBIA, in partnership with Activation Capital and Cville BioHub, is working to accelerate the engine of commercialization and company formation in Virginia’s biotech and life sciences sectors in GO Virginia Regions 2, 4, and 9.

In 2024, RBIA established our region as a state leader in tech-based economic development. We led the grant with the support of multiple partners to secure $5M from GO Virginia to address startup barriers, enhance IP development, and create a skilled workforce. The funds will catapult the work of improving capital access, regulatory support, and talent pipelines, while building regional branding and investment opportunities to establish Virginia as a leading bioscience hub in the nation.
