Common Wealth Angels Relaunches to Fund Innovation in Valleys and Beyond

The Roanoke Blacksburg Innovation Alliance and Common Wealth Angels announce the relaunch of a private capital investment organization. Common Wealth Angels funds innovation in the Roanoke and New River valleys and beyond through investment in high-growth startups alongside venture capital funds and other angel investment organizations.
The launch coincides with a new brand for Common Wealth Angels and the organization moving into the Roanoke Blacksburg Innovation Alliance portfolio, alongside innovation mainstays such as the Roanoke Blacksburg Technology Council (RBTC) and Regional Accelerator and Mentoring Program (RAMP).
The purpose of CWA is to provide early-stage, well-vetted investment opportunities for angel investors from Southwest Virginia. CWA, by its very function, also provides critical early-stage capital into Virginia startups of all sectors and technologies with a bias for those hailing from Southwest Virginia.
The angel investing organization is technology and sector agnostic, conducts pre-seed rounds, and invests $200,000 on average per deal. Companies in the current portfolio include Chorda Pharma, Acomhal Research, Ticket Spicket, CytoRecovery, The Tiny Cargo Company, Rendyr, and Veracity.
Common Wealth Angels was founded by tech entrepreneurs Kevin Bloomfield and Russ Ellis to provide high quality investment opportunities, mentorship and education, as well as community.
